Five Northern States have lifted the lockdown placed on places of worship. This is in spite of the rising number of cases of coronavirus in the states. The affected states are Kogi, Borno, Zamfara, Adamawa and Gombe.
The easing of places of worship may not be unconnected with the ongoing Ramadan fasting and the repeated calls by some powerful stakeholders in the states. Markets have also been opened. However, it is expected that worshippers will be compelled to observe some basic rules of personal hygiene and physical distancing while publicly observing their religious obligations.
