• Lagos Archdiocese marks 8th Laudato Si’ anniversary
The weeklong activities marking the Pope Francis’ Encyclical, Laudato Si’ came to an end in the Archdiocese of Lagos, on May 29, 2023, being the 8th anniversary celebration of the Encyclical. According to Dame Marie Fatayi-Williams, Initiator, Network of Young Catholic Carers for the Environment in Nigeria (NYCCEN), the request from the Dicastery for Integral Human Development and Compensation was for the Pope’s Film entitled, “The Letter” to be viewed by the global Catholic Community; parishes, institutions and sodalities. Fatayi-Williams said that two parishes, namely; Church of the Assumption Falomo, Lagos and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Victoria Island, Lagos, heeded the call. She said: “It was a great message for ecological conversion. The feedback was for “The Letter” to be viewed even more widely by different community groups. So we urge you all to champion a viewing at home or in your parishes or societies. It’s worthy of viewing trust me.”
