Chairman of Enyimba FC of Aba, Felix Anyansi Agwu has assured that the club would do well in the continent this term as they begin their campaign away this Sunday November 29, against Burkina Faso’s Rahimo FC. Anyansi who spoke exclusively to Catholic Herald Sports said the club is aware of the high expectation of Nigerians, especially at a time when nobody appears to reckon with Nigerian football on the home front. “We are set for the CAF Champions League campaign and our target is to give the country quality representation as we have done over the years. We know what our fans and Nigerians expect from us. We won’t disappoint them. The situation is difficult because for several months we have not played competitive football, but our coaches have been working on the players and we hope for the very best,” Anyansi said. It would be noted that Enyimba last season got to group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup but failed narrowly to hit the last four after losing to Horoya FC of Guinea. The club remains the only Nigerian club to have won the CAF Champions league. They did so in 2003 and 2004 when they won it back to back. Plateau United, the other club that is flying Nigeria’s flag in the money spinning competition are starting their campaign at home against Tanzanian side, Simba FC.
