Dr. (Mrs.) Ijeamaka Onyia Marks 50th Birthday in Style

t was indeed a day not to forget
in a hurry by the Onyia’s family,
friends and close confidants when
they filed behind Dr. (Mrs.) Ijeamaka
Maria-Goretti Onyia in their numbers
to dance to the altar in thanksgiving to
God on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at St.
Cyprian’s Catholic Church, Oko-Oba,
Agege, Lagos to celebrate her 50th
birthday anniversary.
Soon after the thanksgiving mass
was over, many trooped to the Onyai’s
home where they were treated to the
birthday bash with assorted foods, es-
pecially Igbo delicacies and drinks of
all kinds to wash it down. There were
also performances and dance staged
by various groups including a special
feature by children of Ijamido Chil-
dren’s Home, Ota in Ogun State, Mari-
an girls and the Church choir.
Vintage Dr. Ijeamaka Onyia an op-
tometrist, who graduated from the
College of Medicine and Health Sci-
ence of Abia state University, Uturu
in Abia State where she bagged the
Doctor of Optometry degree in 1994
is known for her philanthropic gesture
especially towards the less privileged
in the society. Little wonder the birth-
day which she christened “Celebration
of God’s Unfathomable Mercy, Im-
measurable Grace & Love” had mostly
in attendance children of the different
groups in the Church, MCA, Marian
girls, Block Rosary and children from
less privileged homes she often treat
as her biological children. She also
belongs to different organizations and
pious societies in the Church, among
them, CWO and Confraternity of
Christian Mothers.
Delivering her exhortation at the
event, past president of the CWO, Mrs.
Pearl Okeke appreciated God for the
life of the celebrator and quoting from
Psalm 103, she said it is good to show
gratitude to the Almighty. Asking how
else one can thank God as David in the
holy book always do but to show him
appreciation with thanksgiving gifts
just as Dr. Ijeamaka Onyia has done.
Dr. Ijeamaka Onyia is married
to Engr. Titus Chukwuma Onyia a
prominent member of the Church and
blessed with two children. Her par-
ents, Sir Victor Ogbonnia Iloeje and
Lady Lily Chinyelu Iloeje among other
family members, siblings and friends
were on hand to celebrate with her.
