Catholics have been urged to inculcate simplicity in all areas of their lives, especially in their homes, work places and communities, and be ready to be at the background for the common good without being publicised. The charge was given by Rev. Fr. Dominic Onuoha, the Chaplain, while delivering the homily during the 2024/8th annual thanksgiving and fun-day celebration of Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria Lagos Archdiocese (CWONLA), Lekki Deanery, held recently at Ave Maria Catholic Church, Lekki, Lagos.
Fr. Onuoha asked the women to emulate Andrew, who laboured for the good of persons he worked with, and brought people to Jesus to have an encounter with Him. He said their membership in CWO should bear fruit in spiritual benefits in their individual lives and those they encounter, urging them never to be tired of bringing people to God. Fr. Onuoha reminded the women that they need to talk about God to others, adding that they should ensure they do what they teach, because they are in the spotlight as those they preach to, will be watching to see if they live what they preach. According to him, “God wants His kingdom to be full, and He’s reminding you and I, like Andrew, don’t be tired in bringing people to God. “Let your presence, your membership in CWO open doors for people to encounter God and not to run away from God, because the things you do, the things you say may push people away from God. So, your purpose is being defeated. “In the midst of confusion, be the Andrew that will look for solution. Stop advertising without any feelings the problems and the difficulties and the imperfections of your fellow sisters. No matter how exulted you are, no matter how successful you may become, never equate yourself with God, because pride comes before a fall.”
Also speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Judith Bulamma, the Coordinator, said the CWONLA Lekki, celebrates God’s blessings, His goodness, and the joy of fellowship. According to Bulamma, “We are stepping into a transformative mission—a mission to empower women, uplift the underprivileged, and build a brighter future for all. On the official launch of CWONLA Lekki Deanery (CLD) Table Water, the Coordinator said, “This project is not just an initiative; it is a beacon of hope, an instrument of change, and a testament to our shared commitment to creating opportunities where they are most needed.”
She noted that economic empowerment is the cornerstone of dignity and independence, adding that by equipping women and vulnerable individuals with the tools and resources they need to succeed, CWONLA Lekki Deanery is not only transforming lives but also strengthening families and fostering resilient communities for generations to come. Highlights of the event included Art Exhibition by renowned international artists.
