The Catholic Women Organisation Nigeria (CWON) is set for its next Quarterly National Conference and meeting, billed to hold from October 14 to 17, 2021 at St. Leo Catholic Church, Ikeja, Lagos.
The four-day event, tagged “Let us think and act the Heart of Mary” seeks to bring all Presidents and Secretaries of CWON, at Provincial and Archdiocesan levels, as well as the National Executives and members of the Board of Trustees to explore diverse perspectives, in charting an enhanced course for the organisation.
The President, CWON, Dame Mary Asibi Gonsum said the Conference will also strive to further enrich the lives of the women, as they will be inspired to improve their relationships with the Lord and each other, emulating the amazing virtues of the Blessed Mother. Gonsum stated, “From the Cross, Jesus gave His Blessed Mother Mary to Saint John, as well as to all of us.
“He said to the disciple, ‘Behold your Mother!’True devotion to our Lady of Good Counsel, our Organisation’s Patron challenges us to imitate the amazing virtues of Mary, which includes deep humility, lively faith, unceasing prayer, constant self denial, surpassing purity, ardent love, heroic patience, angelic kindness, and heavenly wisdom.
Let us beg the Blessed Virgin Mary for the grace to understand these virtues that she exemplified. Let us also beg for the grace to be able to put these virtues into practice in our daily walk for life!”
According to the CWON President, the four-day national event will feature Penitential rites, daily Morning Masses, courtesy visits to His Grace, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins, Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos; LUMEN Christi Television Network, in addition to Fundraising, Conference, Meeting and Gala Night.
The Opening Ceremony scheduled for Friday, October 15, 2021 will commence with Mass, which will be celebrated by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos; immediately followed by the fundraising ceremony.
The primary objective of the fundraising exercise is to raise funds for the building of a Multipurpose Hall, a Science Laboratory and an ICT centre/e-library for one of CWON’s schools, Cor Mariae Boys College, Abuja.
CWON is a pan-Nigeria organization of Catholic women with flourishing careers across spheres of economic, social and political life.
