338 members of the Catholic Women Organisation Nigeria (CWON), have been inducted into the organisation at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church,Tedi- Muwo, in the Satellite Deanery of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos. Those inducted comprised women from the parish as well as from the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Abule -Osun, a former Out-station of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tedi- Muwo, Lagos. In his homily at the induction ceremony, Rev. Father Anthony Thompson CSs.R, the Parish Priest, advised Nigerians to try and impact positively on the lives of others wherever they find themselves.
He said, “We should submit to the will of God and not to our own will. As a leader in your family, society and place of work, try to touch lives in your own little way. through your behaviour and way of life. Not the touch that brings pains, but that which brings relief and healing, just as Jesus brought relief to the man He healed of leprosy, according to the book of Mark 1:40-45.” Fr. Thompson stressed, “At the sunset of your life, it is people you touched their lives that matters.”
The Parish Priest admonished the newly inducted not to see their elevation as an avenue to showcase their CWO uniforms, but to grow in faith, emulate the virtues of Mary, the mother of Jesus and exhibit same in their dealings with others. For her part, Lady Catherine Alabi, President, Catholic Women Organisation Nigeria, Lagos Archdiocese (CWONLA), urged the newly inducted members to show respect to their husbands as well as strive to maintain peace, love and unity in their families which she said is the smaller unit of the society. Highlight of the occasion was the display and launch of the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tedi-Muwo CWO band, led by the Chairlady, Mrs. Nkiruka Nwobi. Many high-ranking officials of the CWONLA attended the event.
