An appeal fund has been opened to support the burial of the late Secretary General of the Lagos Archdiocesan Catholic Men Organization, Mr. Anthony Mathis. Speaking on the need for members to buy into the project, the incumbent Secretary General, Mr. Segun Lawrence paid glowing tribute to his predecessor. “Anthony Mathis was one of us, a member of CMO Catholic Church of Assumption, Falomo. He was the General Secretary in the LACMON EXCO led by Emeritus High Chief John Aigbokhaode. He was my predecessor. To have known Anthony Mathis was to have encountered a noble and beautiful soul. A man zealous at his tasks; dedicated and committed to his faith; deep in knowledge of the magisterum of the Church. He was an asset to the Convention committee as its Secretary and a fundamental resource person to the liturgical subcommittee of the convention.

He marshaled Our LACMON general meetings and AGM like a seasoned administrator. His minutes was succinct and most often times rendered in his sonorous voice with distinct enunciation” Mr. Lawrence expressed regret that Mr. Mathis was afflicted with a debilitating ailment which he could not recover from before his demise. “He fought the ailment for upward of 3 years like he did all the challenges he encountered; with equanimity, fortitude and grace. Ultimately like the way of all mortals he answered the call to greater glory in the month of April during COVID19 lockdown. Anthony Mathis long drawn battles with his ailment left his family and friends with an open wound and a deep hole in their pockets He revealed that Anthony Mathis will be buried in Lagos on the 10th of July, 2020. All support should be paid into: GTBANK, Account number: 0141804922: Peter Friday Monssih. For further clarification, Mr. Lawrence Segun can be contacted on 08023331833.
