He was the General Secretary in the LACMON EXCO led by Emeritus High Chief John Aigbokhaode. He was my predecessor. To have known Anthony Mathis was to have encountered a noble and beautiful soul. A man zealous at his tasks; dedicated and committed to his faith; deep in knowledge of the magisterum of the Church. He was an asset to the Convention committee as its Secretary and a fundamental resource person to the liturgical subcommittee of the convention.
He marshaled Our LACMON general meetings and AGM like a seasoned administrator. His minutes was succinct and most often times rendered in his sonorous voice with distinct enunciation” Mr. Lawrence expressed regret that Mr. Mathis was afflicted with a debilitating ailment which he could not recover from before his demise. “He fought the ailment for upward of 3 years like he did all the challenges he encountered; with equanimity, fortitude and grace.
