The Catholic Men Organization
of Nigeria, Badagry Deanery has
launched a thirty Million Naira
bus project meant to help accelerate the
work of evangelization in the deanery.
Led by Barr. Barnabas Okoro, the event
which was the first of its kind in the an-
nals of Badagry Deanery was attended by
the cream of important dignitaries inside
and outside the Catholic Archdiocese of
Lagos and had Sir Steve Omojafor KCSS
as Chairman.
Barr. Barrnabas Okoro in his welcome
address said, the bus launch came as
a child of necessity as men who are the
pillars of the church attended church pro-
grammes and events with hired vehicles
while their female counterparts attended
same events with their own buses.
Chief Eugene Nweke (Jnr.) an authori-
ty in Maritime business in Nigeria, who
stood in for the chairman of the occasion,
said Jesus in his earthly ministry used the
boat and sometimes the donkey for ease
of movement to preach the good news,
but in contemporary times, the bus is
needed for ease of operation to attain the
onerous tasks of CMON in the Deanery.
Earlier in his homily, Rev Fr. John Ukwa
SDV. Associate Priest, St. Cecilia’s Catho-
lic Church, Ijanikin, admonished men,
as image of God, to live lives worthy of
emulation by boldly criticizing the ills of
society, just as Jesus and St. Paul did.
Major highlight of the occasion was
presentation of plaque to deserving awar-
dees- Very Rev. Fr. Eddie Hartnett, Dean,
Badagry Deanery and Episcopal Vicar
of Badagry and Apapa Region, Rev. Fr.
Joseph Monye (Jnr)., Chaplain CMON,
Badagry Deanery, Sir Steve Omojafor
KCSS and Prof. Pat Utomi.
Others included Dr. F. Abudu, Sir Peter
Ogwuru, Chief Mrs, Francisca Eugene
Nweke, Chief Ben Ofem and a host of
others that included representatives of St.
Michael’s Catholic Church, Ilogbo-Eremi,
St, Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Ijanikin, St.
Andrew’s Catholic Church, Ilemba, who
bagged outstanding parish awards.
Guests were treated to a kaleidoscope of
music while the Ogu and Atilogu dancers
performed to spice up the occasion. There
was also a variety of African menu to meet
the stomach infrastructure of all present,
as donations went on to achieve the de-
sired outcome of the day.
