All roads led to Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Ijede, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos on Saturday, November 26, 2022 when Catholic Men Organisation of Nigeria, Ijede Deanery (IDCMON) celebrated its first anniversary in style. The occasion which commenced with Holy Mass at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Poro-Agbaje, off Ijede road was followed by a grand reception at the Church Hall. Ijede, which consist eleven Parishes, a good number of Station Churches, and Mass Centres is one of the Deaneries that was created on December 18, 2020 by His Grace Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins. It was carved out from Old Ikorodu Deanery. During online discussions with the Pioneer Deanery Coordinator (DC) of the Organisation, Prince Tony Kunle Oyekanmi, he revealed that the members of the developing Deanery with other faithful of the Church celebrated the anniversary in a grand style. The ceremony also featured the investiture of Patrons and conferment of awards on deserving personalities, as well as fund raising of 25M which according to the organisers is aimed at aiding empowerment and evangelism in the deanery.

The DC requested that all hands be on deck to bring about the fulfillment of the people’s dream. He made a passionate appeal to well-meaning persons who may not be able to attend the occasion to send their widow’s mite, as he added that all donations received would be acknowledged and that the invitation is open to all. Since the creation of the developing Deanery, under the Leadership of Prince Oyekanmi, a good number of programmes, including the Annual General Meeting, Yearly Lenten Retreat, and Fathers’ Day celebrations have been carried out. In addition, the IDCMON ascended to the third position in their maiden attendance to the Lagos Archdiocesan Catholic Men Organisation Nigeria (LACMON) during the 2021 Annual Convention as their members were part of the highest participants that attended the annual Programme.
