The parish priest of Church Presenta-
tion, Festac Town, Rev Fr Anthony Go-
donu has called on Christians to always

imitate Christ who is the light of the
world.
He said this recently during a homily
he delivered at the Mass celebrating the

feast of presentation which also coin-
cided with the parish feast day.

He said the feast day Mass, also
known as candlemas (mass of candle)
was a very important feast celebrated all
over christiendom.
“The Presentation of Christ in the
Temple was meant for the consecration
of Mary and Jesus even though both
were just fulfilling the law as they were
without sins or contamination. Hence,
our own baptism was our consecration
and having been consecrated, we’re
to live a life worthy of our baptismal
vows.”

The well attended Mass was preceded
by the rite of blessing of Candles and
procession of lights into the Church.

There was also a special drama ses-
sion by the MCA,

Missionary Child-
hood Association de-
picting the scene of

Christ’s Presentation
in the temple.
In his speech at the

reception, Fr Godo-
nu said the Feast of

Presentation falling

on Sunday present-
ed an ample oppor-
tunity to celebrate

together as one fam-
ily, particularly as

the event holds only
once in six years.
He also thanked
God for all the spiritual and physical

successes recorded since the commu-
nity was pronounced Quasi Parish over

six years ago.
