…Fr. Umoh writes lay faithful

The letter:

My very dear brothers and sisters, the attached document is just an example of the serious concerns in the present world and our world in the nearest future, as influenced by the trends brought about by fast evolving communications technology. The beauty and challenges of the AI technology in particular is one which Catholic leaders and media practitioners cannot afford to ignore, as we have often acted towards many other past technologies.

To say the least, the AI has the existential capacity to determine WHAT IS, without boundaries. If the message of Christ, TRUTH, will still be relevant in the nearest future, we must commit our time, talent and resources to FULLY PARTICIPATE in this new and life defining journey, because the consequence for lateness or indifference can be very devastating. To my fellow Catholics in the media industry, there are real serious tasks before us, which we should be preoccupied with. Unless we are united and well-coordinated, we may simply get too busy with our individual desires and achieve nothing in the end. Our Lord Jesus Christ and his Church rely greatly on us. We cannot afford to fail him at this critical and defining moment. Let us begin to think and act positively and purposefully in this direction.

May God help us all. Amen.

Fr. Mike Nsikak Umoh National Director of Social Communications, CSN

The attached document:
The Handbook in Two Sentences
“As technology makes the world more complex, the choices that we need to make regarding the uses of technology also
become more complicated. The goal of this book is to help decision-makers set up the right conditions within their organization for successful navigation of this increasing complexity so that their good intentions generate the best outcomes not only for their organization and shareholders, but for society and the world as well.”
