CEPACS at 50 unveils anniversary logo, strategic objectives for a better future

To further reinforce its commitment to effective and efficient use of communication media to evangelise the gospel in the apostolate of the Church, the Pan African Episcopal Committee for Social Communications (CEPACS) has unveiled its 50th anniversary logo and strategic objectives for a better future. Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, President of CEPACS and Bishop, Catholic Diocese of Oyo said the Episcopal Committee has utilised the opportunity of its 50th anniversary ahead of the celebration to put its mission and activities into perspective, and detail its strategic objectives rooted in its founding vision.

He went on to present the objectives, “Representing the Bishops of Africa in matters of Communication; Diffusing knowledge about Church Teaching on Communication and other issues; Organising training, workshops for professionals of Communication and Coordinating database, Communication initiatives and activities for the Church in Africa..” Others include, “Screening applicants for project funding; promoting the training of future Priests, Religious and the Laity in Communications and representing Africa with the Dicastery for Communication and other international media organisations.” According to Bishop Badejo, also a member of the Dicastery for Communication, Rome; the Cross, Africa map, light rays and heart coupled with the continent’s communication elements such as Sankofa, knowledge, strength , freedom, peacemaking were effectively used to create the CEPACS’ 50th anniversary logo. The CEPACS 50th anniversary will hold between November 18 and 21, 2023.

Themed, “CEPACS AT 50: Towards promoting a Synodal Church in Africa through social communication,” the opening Mass is scheduled for November 19, 2023 at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos. It will be immediately followed respectively by reception and opening ceremony at the premises of the Cathedral and Lumen Christi Television Network. CEPACS Assembly, the Continental Assembly will hold the next day, November 20, 2023. Dr. Paolo Ruffini, Prefect of the Dicastery for Communications, Rome, is the Keynote Speaker. Many Bishops, especially the Bishops who represent the regions of the Symposium of Episcopal Conference for Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), Communications experts, Catholic Communicators and dignitaries will also be in attendance.
