- Nigeria to host Vatican’s Prefect of the Dicastery of Social Communication, Bishops from all over Africa
The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, CEPACS 50th Anniversary and Founder, Lumen Christi Television Network, Nigeria, Sir Soji Olagunju has opened online registration for CEPACS Golden Jubilee Anniversary Assembly targeted at expected participants across Africa, Madagascar and Islands. Sir Olagunju said, “For ease of registration and on-the-spot updates, we have created a website with a link exclusively for registration online. Participants of the conference will be expected to submit their registration form online using this link – http://www.cepacs.africa/cepacsat50.africa/.”
He added, “Nigeria is geared up to host a series of highly anticipated events in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of Pan African Episcopal Committee for Social Communications (CEPACS), attracting the Catholic Bishops of Africa, Madagascar and the Islands under the auspices of the Symposium of Episcopal Conference for Africa and Madagascar (SECAM), Directors of Social Communications as well as professional religious and lay Catholic Communicators across Africa.” The assembly will be a meeting involving professionals and practitioners of all forms of media from the traditional, electronic, mass media to the social and digital media.
The President of CEPACS, member of the Dicastery for Communication and Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Nigeria, Most Rev. (Dr.) Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, in an exclusive chat with The Catholic Herald Weekly newspaper recently disclosed that the golden anniversary of CEPACS has been designed to further promote the synodal Church in Africa through social communications. He said, “The Keynote Speaker is Dr. Paolo Ruffini, Prefect for the Dicastery for Communications, Vatican. The event will also be graced by dignitaries and many Bishops, especially the Bishops who represent the regions of SECAM. The National Director of Social Communications, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Abuja, Nigeria, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh in a recent circular urged all the Directors of Social Communications in Nigeria to register for the two-day CEPAC golden jubilee assembly scheduled to hold between November 19 and 20, 2023 in the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, Nigeria.
The circular further read, “Saturday, November 18 is for arrival of all non-resident participants while departure is on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Opening Mass is at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos on November 19, 2023, immediately followed by reception and opening ceremony at the premises of the Cathedral and Lumen Christi Television Network while the 50th Anniversary/Assembly will hold at the latter, the next day, November 20, 2023.” Bishop Badejo further disclosed that the Chief Host of the golden anniversary celebration is Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins.
