The Confraternity of Christian Mothers has set Sunday, May 8, 2022 to hold the 13th edition of St. Mary’s Isolo Widows Empowerment Scheme at the Church’s premises after the 11.30a.m Mass. Mrs. Oge Okorie, Cordinator, St. Mary’s Isolo Widows Empowerment Scheme who disclosed this to The Catholic Herald Weekly said the event which will commence with the Holy Mass comprises a range of activities such as blessing of the Widows, capacity building talk and presentation of the business startup items like sewing machines, popcorn machines, grinding machines and baking items to the beneficiaries. According to her, the sole objective of the Empowerment Scheme is“to empower our widows both young and old through business start-ups and profound capacity building to impact their immediate family and environment positively.” Speaking further, Mrs. Okorie said, “St. Mary’s Widows’ Empowerment Scheme was launched on the 13th of September, 2009 with fund raising from our beloved Parishioners. About 70 widows in the parish have been empowered till date.” The Confraternity of Christian Mothers was founded in Lille, France, in 1850. It is a group of Catholic Mothers formed to uphold the dignity and responsibility of women as wives and mothers in building formidable Christian families.
