The premises of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, Ajao Estate, Lagos was a beehive of activities last weekend, when the Confraternity of Christian Mothers (CCM) and Catholic Confraternity of Christian Fathers (CCCF) of the parish held their 11th solemn reception and investiture of new members, respectively in grand style. The event which began with Mass, also witnessed awards to distinguished personalities and investiture of CCM matrons by the confraternities, launch of CCM Coaster bus among other fun and exciting things that marked the day.

Expressing joy on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Philip Uchendu, the Parish Priest congratulated the confraternities, as he said the event highlights unwavering commitment to their mission as mothers and fathers dedicated to fostering faith, love, and unity within their families, the Church, and the broader community. According to him, the reception of new members marks a fresh chapter of growth and renewal, a testament to the enduring strength of their devotion and exemplary lives of prayer, sacrifice and service. Delivering the homily at Mass, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Mkpahu, the Associate Parish Priest, urged the people to always rely on God and allow Him to direct their speech and actions, in order to uplift the spirit of others. The Parish CCM President, Lady May Ononuju, said the day marks another significant milestone in the history of the society, as she expressed gratitude to the guests for their love and support.
She said that members of the CCM strive to be beacons of faith, hope and love not only for themselves but also for their husbands, children, and all who are in need. While congratulating the new members, Mrs. Patricia Unuane, CCM, Ikeja Deanery Coordinator urged them to emulate Mother Mary in their role of taking care of their homes. On the hardship in the country, she urged Nigerian women to make God their backbone, pray, exercise patience, tolerance, hard work to attain happiness. Expressing happiness, Diamond, Mother Josephine Dimude, an awardee, thanked God for keeping her alive to receive the honour. She urged the women to draw closer to God, and serve Him and humanity with their hearts, so as to make heaven at the end.
Excited newly received member, Mrs. Anita Okafor, said CCM is all about family, as the women pray for their family which was what attracted her to the group. According to her, “That’s the one key thing that got me interested in CCM. I feel so glad, I feel excited. I feel fulfilled as a woman to be in CCM”.
