The 2022 edition of Catholic Praise Concert (CPC) under the brand name of “Extravagant Praise” which featured a handful of Catholic talents was held on the 20th of August, at Catholic Church of the Resurrection (CCOR), Magodo, Lagos. According to the organisers, the event which kicked off with Mass is a way of giving God something special, as he is the one that gave humans whatever they already have. “In our lives, we work so hard to enjoy extravagance and opulence. But who gave us all we have? It’s God. So, who best deserves the most extravagant of our offering? CPC wants to give God extravagant praise”, the organiers stated. Speaking on the event and reason the concert was held during the daytime instead of overnight as in previous editions, Messrs. Peter Egbumokei, Executive Producer and Raphael Ezike, Coordinator/ Project Manager said: “Considering the security issues around, we don’t want to keep people out late. We plan to gradually adjust the time to flow with the realities on ground. Probably, we may not be having overnight events as we had done before now.”

The Mass was officiated by Rev. Fr. Paul Bastos, Parish Priest, Catholic Church of the Resurrection, who also led the opening prayer. Project Fame’s Benneth Ogbeiwi and Stephanie Vincent-Otiono of Flat Mates co-anchored the concert. Gift Christopher (alias Minister GUC) led the ministration with St. Cecilia Choir Unilag, Voice of Angels Choir Mafoluku, Fada Fuji, Kelar Thrillz, Moses Audu, Clenz, Defix crew, Princess Abiola, Baby Jesus, Man of Praise, DjXmoe and Princess Judith who gave a beautiful rendition of the Divine Mercy prayer (a popular Catholic prayer said by 3pm and 3am which is believed to be the hour of Mercy). The concert closed with a beautiful movie night and picnic by the host parish. The first edition was held in 2014 at freedom park the first ever concert of its kind.
