The parish was con-
ceived due to the ever
increasing population
of Catholics in Festac
and its environs by
Holy Family Catholic
Church 22 Road Festac Town under
the guidance of Rev. Fr. Anthony
Obadina cmf. He was given an
Episcopal directive by His Eminence
Anthony Cardinal Okogie to have
more catholic churches in Festac. To
achieve this, land were acquired and
mass centers set up.
On the 4th of July 2007, a third
mass center was acquired. On March
19, 2008 Archbishop Okogie blessed
the center and the inaugural mass
was celebrated. He named it Catholic
Church of the Visitation in honour of
the Holy Family. The initial congrega-
tion was 480. Masses were celebrated
on Sundays only.
On Monday 11th February, 2011
the first week day morning mass was
celebrated in the Catholic Church of
the Visitation. On 30th August, 2011
His Eminence Anthony Cardinal
Okogie elevated the center to a
quasi-parish with Rev. Fr. Jerome Ak-
inyemi in Charge. On 18 December,
2013 Rev. Fr. Andrew Ogidan was
assigned as the new Priest-in-Charge
of the quasi-parish. Building work
began in earnest. He introduced
weekday evening masses on Wednes-
day and Fridays in parish activities
of the quasi-parish. ‘Know your
Faith’ an additional programme was
introduced every Wednesday evening
to help parishioners increase their
knowledge of the Catholic faith.
On 8th November, 2014 the first
wedding mass was celebrated in the
quasi-parish as a group wedding for
couples who had been living together
but not wedded in the church. Eleven
couples were wedded that day.
On 23rd march, 2015, plot 642B,
a property beside the church was
acquired to serve as the Priest’s resi-
dence. At the Chrism mass of 2016 at
Ss Michael, Raphael & Gabriel parish
Satellite Town, the quasi-parish was
elevated to full parish status. On the
3rd of September, 2016 the church
building was dedicated by His Grace
Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins.
Also worthy of note is the Pastoral
assistance rendered to the parish by
the Religious Sisters of Charity and
the care provided by the parish to St.
Christopher Ijaye .
The parish is currently under the
guidance and pastoral care of Rev.
Frs. Panachy Ogbede and Paulmary
Otukpe who work hard to ensure
that the parish thrives to her best
potential spiritually and physically
