The efforts of the Catholic Church to facilitate media training opportunities for the youths in Artificial Intelligence and video editing for their economic and career advancement have received a boost with the successful training of over 50 youths drawn from the Archdiocese of Lagos. The empowerment, organised by Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Victoria Island, Lagos, in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Communications, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, had over 120 youths drawn from the Archdiocese at its commencement, while about 50 who overcame the ten weeks of intensive training will be certificated.
According to Very Rev. Fr. Anthony Godonu, Parish Priest, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Victoria Island and Director of Social Communications, Archdiocese of Lagos, the empowerment programme was designed to expose the youths to the latest trends in Artificial Intelligence, video editing, and cinematography. According to Fr. Godonu, “In today’s changing world, it is very difficult to be successful without practical skills. We desire to upgrade the skills of our youths, even those who are already in paid employment, to make them more productive to themselves, their employers, and the society at large. The three months of media training we recently organised saw us engaging the services of top experts in AI, video editing and video streaming, video technology, and cinematography. The courses were carefully chosen to address areas of interest in the media.
We offered top-notch training to the participants at no cost. The training was free. We wish to thank our generous sponsors who made this training possible, and hope to sustain it.” The students expressed joy and gratitude to the organisers and lecturers from Efizy Online Training Institute for a job well done, saying that the skills impacted on them have better prepared them for greater exploits in the media world. Certificates will be issued to the successful students on Sunday, May19, 2024. The training was coordinated by Albert Gomez, while Dayo Onifade was the head lecturer.
