All roads led to the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN) 2025:Media Parley held recently at the Training Hall of the secretariat, Abuja. In attendance at the event were Sir Chimdi Oluoha, National President, Catholic Media Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), and leaders of other Catholic communication groups including the Catholic Artistes and Entertainers’ Association of Nigeria (CAEAN).
Speaking on the occasion, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Banjo, Secretary General, CSN, called on families, schools, religious bodies, as well as the media to see to the formation of consciences, to enable people decipher between evil and good. While addressing the media, and outlining the activities of the CSN for the year 2025, the priest spoke on issues, including the get-rich-quick syndrome and neo paganism prevalent in society, the proposed change in the educational system in the country, and alleged call for the introduction of sharia in western Nigeria.

On the craze for wealth, Fr. Banjo said, “There is the need for the formation of consciences to enable people decipher between evil and good. The family, school, religious bodies and the media should do their part to achieve the desired goal.” Concerning education, the Secretary General said the CSN was watching developments in the area, and would relate the position of the Church as soon as the proposed education system became clearer. He said the alleged call for sharia in western Nigeria should be handled with caution to avoid restrictions of personal rights and freedoms.
The Heads of Departments of the secretariat who were present at the event took turns to respond to issues raised by the media. Meanwhile, Sir Chimdi Oluoha, CAMPAN National President, interacted with the CSN’s Secretary General on the sidelines. During the interaction, Sir Chimdi extended the best wishes of CAMPAN to Fr. Banjo on his recent appointment as the Secretary General of CSN.
