What is the present day
St. Lawrence Catho-
lic Church, Isheri
Olofin began in a
small town hall in July 1987 when four
Legionaries from Holy Family Catho-
lic Church Festac Town, namely Chief
Eze, Brother Simon, Sister Rose and
Mr. Ezepue visited the Oba of Isheri
looking for a Catholic family whom
they will hand over a parcel of land
which was acquired by Holy Family
Catholic Church Festac and His Royal
Highness Oba Balogun directed them
to Chief Boniface Obi who they hand-
ed over the land to secure it and to try
and organise a Catholic Community
due to the loneliness to the area. Chief
Obi rallied round and got few families
namely; Obi family, Chief Felix Omu-
ni, Mr. Fadason, Catechist Ohakwere,
Catechist Ogbede, Late Simon Okeke
and few others. A small Catholic
Community was established in Isheri
Olofin Town Hall with a mission that
the Church must stand and grow in
spite of all odds and challenges they
are going through and she became one
of the numerous out stations of Holy
Family Catholic Church Festac Town.
As the number of the Catholic faith-
ful increased, they moved to the pres-
ent site which was handed over to
Chief Obi and were joined by Sir Engr.
L. O. Bakare, Sir Isaac Tom, Chief
Ozuwa, Chief Uzodigwe, Late Inno-
cent Ngam, Late Columbus and oth-
ers. Due to the numerous out stations
of Holy Family, Festac, about 22 in
number, the Spiritual and physical de-
velopment of the situation was dismal.
The station was later handed over
to Christ the King (CKC) Akowonjo
from where some priests were sent at
different times which brought more
growth into the community. In De-
cember 2007, St. Lawrence Catholic
Church, Isheri Olofin was elevated to
a Quasi Parish. Since after the uplift,
the station has been nurtured S by dif-
ferent priests like Late Rev. Fr. Peter
Maiku, Rev. Fr. Richard Fasuyi and
the incumbent Rev. Fr. Michael Afrifa
Boadu.
PASTORAL CIUNCILS
The Church has an active Parish Pas-
toral Council and Laity Council that is

a sub Committee of the PPC.
