Bishop Odetoyinbo inaugurates new CWONLEP Executives, Members of the Governing Council

• Rev. Msgr. Obayomi unveils Terms of Reference of the CWONLEP’s project Governing Council

Most Rev. Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta has inaugurated the newly elected Executives of the Catholic Women Organisation, Lagos Ecclesiastical Province (CWONLEP), and inaugural members of the CWONLEP Salve Regina Empowerment Centre Governing Council. Inaugurating the Executives during the Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Abeokuta on Sunday, October 10, 2021, Bishop Odetoyinbo urged the newly elected Executives to lead by serving. He said leadership is about serving others, and not to be served. The prelate called on the new Executives to demonstrate quality leadership skills by emulating Jesus’ leadership style, adding that their tenure should be a reference point in terms of purposeful leadership and Church growth.

Present at the ceremony were Rev. Msgr. Patrick Obayomi, Provincial Chaplain, CWONLEP and Rev. Sister Agnes Adepoju OLA, Sister Adviser, CWON, Lagos Archdiocese (CWONLA), Rev. Fr. Vincent Agih, Secretary to the Bishop of Abeokuta and a host of others. The newly inaugurated Executives include Mrs. Grace Amani, President; Mrs. Gloria Young, 1st Vice President; Mrs. Marcelina Okuselu, 2nd Vice President; Mrs. Patience Nnadi, General Secretary; Mrs. Tina Iheanacho, Assistant General Secretary; Dr. (Mrs.) Philomena Ofuafo, Treasurer; Mrs. Mary. Gbogiaran, Financial Secretary; Mrs. Juliet Elue, PRO; Mrs. Augustina Amos, Social Secretary and Mrs. Lucia Folorunsho, Assistant Social Secretary.

Others are Mrs. Deborah Ogunlade, Welfare Officer 1; Mrs. Raquel Fayemi, Welfare Officer 2; Mrs. Francesca Grillo, Welfare Officer 3; Mrs. Christianah Ajayi, Provost 1; Mrs. Sabina Omisande, Provost 2; Mrs. Folake Jones, Provost 3; Mrs. Catherine Jinadu, Internal Auditor I; Mrs. Angela Opara, Internal Auditor 2; Hon (Mrs.) Elizabeth Sonubi, Ex officio 1 and Mrs. Anthonia Sanusi, Ex officio 2. In her acceptance speech, the new CWONLEP President, Mrs. Grace Amani said she would build on the foundation of the out gone administration, assuring that CWONLEP will continue to grow from strength to strength. The appointed members of the CWONLEP Salve Regina Empowerment Centre Governing Council comprise, Rev. Msgr. Patrick Obayomi, Rev. Sr. Agnes Adepoju OLA, Hon. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Sonubi, Mrs. Anthonia Sanusi, Mrs. Bernice Bankole, Mrs. Grace Amani, Dr. (Mrs.) Philomena Ofuafo, Mrs. Patience Nnadi, Mrs. Tessy Ibe, Nneora Clarina Ejekam, Dr. Rosemary Ilori, Mrs. Anthonia Olatunji, Mrs. Bolatito Aina and Mrs. Anne Oluwole. Rev. Msgr. Patrick Obayomi, CWONLEP Chaplain at same event unveiled the Terms of Reference of the Governing Council to enhance the smooth operations of the Centre.

The Terms of Reference read thus, “They shall be the highest organ of the empowerment centre; They shall be responsible to the Bishops of the Lagos province; The composition above include the Provincial Chaplain, Sister Agnes representing Sister advisers, immediate past CWONLEP President and Secretary, the project chairperson, new Provincial President, her Secretary and Treasurer.” “It also includes three representatives from CWON, Lagos Archdiocese (CWONLA) and two each from CWON, Ijebu Ode (CWONIO) and CWON, Abeokuta (CWONAB); They shall be responsible for policy formulation of the programmes of the establishment; They shall work with others to attract funds and facilities for the centre; They shall formulate organizational goals and objectives; They shall establish implementation and monitoring strategies to ensure the vision and mission of the establishment; They shall meet minimally four times a year; They shall collate annual report and submit to the LEP Bishops; and Membership term of office is five years renewable only once.
