In a move that underscores the ever-evolving call to service within the Catholic Church, the Catholic Diocese of Oyo has made new appointments. At the closing Mass of the 2025 Diocesan Presbyteral Retreat, held at the serene St. Paul Pastoral Centre in Awe, Most Rev. Emmanuel Adetoyese Badejo, Bishop of Oyo Diocese announced a series of key appointments. Leading the list of appointments is the elevation of Very Rev. Fr. Boniface Wuraola as the new Vicar General of the Diocese.

Fr. Wuraola takes the reins following the departure of his predecessor, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis Oladipo, who embarked on a missionary assignment outside Nigeria. Known for his quiet dedication and multifaceted service, Fr. Wuraola brings with him a wealth of experience. He currently serves as the priest in charge of St. Anne Catholic Church, Ogbomoso, Principal of Maryland Catholic Grammar School, and Education Secretary of the Diocese — a portfolio that reflects his deep-rooted commitment to both spiritual and educational development.

Also announced were other strategic appointments: Very Rev. Fr. Ferdinand Olabode was named Chairman of the Diocesan Land Committee, while Very Rev. Fr. Michael Falade was appointed Dean of Oyo Deanery. Both priests are expected to bring renewed vision and stewardship to their respective roles. During his homily, Bishop Badejo urged the newly appointed priests to embrace their responsibilities with zeal, humility, and a deep sense of mission.
“Priesthood is a continuum — a sacred journey of service to God and humanity,” the Bishop reminded, encouraging the clergy to remain steadfast in nurturing the spiritual and pastoral needs of the faithful. The event marked a significant moment for the Catholic Diocese of Oyo as these appointments are expected to enhance the spiritual growth and development of the priests and lay faithful of the diocese.
