The Holy Father Pope Francis
has appointed Rev. Fr. Moses
Chikwe as the Auxiliary Bishop
of Owerri with the Titular See of Flu-
menzer
His appointment which was an-
nounced on Thursday October 17, was
greeted with wide jubilation across the
length and breadth of Owerri Archdi-
ocese and its environs.
By this appointment, the Auxiliary
Bishop would be expected to assist
Archbishop Anthony Obinna in the
administration of the Archdiocese of
Owerri. Archbishop Obinna is expect-
ed to reach the retirement age in the
next two years.
Right Rev. Fr. Moses Chikwe, at pres-
ent Director of Education of Archdi-
ocese of Owerri, was born of 4th of
April, 1967 in Uzoagba – Ikeduru, in
the Archdiocese of Owerri. He at-
tended the St. Peter Claver Minor
Seminary in Okpala. He studied Phi-
losophy at St. Joseph’s Major Seminary
in Ekot Ekpene and Theology at the
Bigard Memorial Seminary in Enugu.
He was ordained a priest on 6th July
1996 and incardinated in Archdiocese
of Owerri. He did his higher studies at
the University of California, obtaining
a civil Doctorate in Educational Ad-
ministration (2003).
