Most Rev (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins, Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, has praised the existing unity and understanding between the clergy and the Lay faithful in the Archdiocese, maintaining that development cannot take place in a chaotic system. Archbishop Martins said this at the commissioning of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, AIT Road, Alagbado, Lagos, Mariam Grotto, blessing of the priest’s office and adoration chapel on Sunday, July 3, 2022. He reminded the parishioners and well-wishers who turned out in large numbers to welcome him, to consolidate on the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the Church to achieve more, while congratulating the faithful and the parish priest on the successful completion of the projects.

He also urged the parishioners to be more zealous and devoted in their prayers as they come before the Blessed Sacrament and our Mother’s Shrine for their individual and family intentions, and that as they faithfully do so, they won’t go empty handed. In his short remarks, Very Rev Fr. Christian Echewodu, the Parish priest of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Alagbado, thanked His Grace for the working visit and official dedication of the place of worship and adoration to increase the spiritual growth of the parishioners and the neigbouring communities. Highlight of the event was the presentation of cultural dance and gifts by the different groups, organisations and societies in the Church. Shortly after the ceremony the Archbishop withdrew to St. Joachim and Anne Catholic Church, Meiran, Alimosho Local Council to perform the rites of Sacrament of Confirmation on eligible candidates as soldiers for Christ; to defend, uphold the values and traditions of the Universal Church without looking back.
