The move to establish a technical in-
stitute to help provide middle man
power and shore up the level of em-
ployment in the Archdiocese of Lagos is
gaining more momentum with the recent
unveiling of the vision by Archbishop Al-
fred Adewale Martins.
At an exclusive event tagged, “An after-
noon with the Archbishop on Youth De-
velopment” held at the Lagos Resource
Centre, Victoria Island, the prelate re-em-
phasised the importance of setting up the
St Joseph the Worker Technical Institute for
the Archdiocese.
Addressing a select crowd made up pre-
dominantly of officials of Lagos Archdioc-
esan Catholic Men Organization and some
select personalities, Archbishop Martins
also appreciated the CMO who few years
ago initiated the construction of a skill ac-
quisition project.
According to him, following fruitful dis-
cussions with the officials of the CMO,
the skill acquisition centre had now been
adopted and converted into St Joseph the
Worker Technical Institute.
“CMO gave us the leverage in that they
initiated a Skill Acquisition Project…I thank
the CMO for this initiative and the stage to
which they have brought the centre to. To-
gether we will move to the ultimate.”
The president of the Lagos Archdioce-
san Catholic Men Organization, Barrister
Vincent Otiono was full of delight on the
decision of the Archbishop to take over the
centre and pledge that the organization will
continue to provide all the needed support
to ensure the project is completed in a re-
cord time. Also at the event to give an in-
sight into the depth of the project and level
of work so far done on it was the Chairman
of the Project Implementation Committee,
Dr John Abiodun Olumide.
A fund raising session was later held to
support the project with some of the guests
making generous donations in favour of the
Institute.
Among dignitaries that graced the event
was the President Lagos Archdiocesan La-
ity Council, Mrs Geradine Chizube Igboa-
nugo and former Governorship Candidate
for Lagos state under the PDP, Mr Jimi Ag-
baje, amongst others.
