The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev, (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, to ascertain that those who commit offences against the land and against people are arrested, and made to face the law. Archbishop Martins who gave the charge while speaking on Dr. Isa Pantami’s terrorism allegation noted that when the federal government refuses to arrest or punish offenders, this gives room for impunity to thrive in the land. He said: ”Sometimes, those who commit offences against the land and against people are not arrested and made to face the law. And so, this gives us the impression that impunity can reign as long as it wills. “We know that recently, one of the ministers of the Federal Republic was proven to have supported international terrorism; one of those groups which our local terrorists are affiliated to. One would think that a revelation like that will create a big alarm in government circles, such that the president would act, at the very least suspend the person concerned while it carries out investigation to see the extent of the minister’s affiliation and commitment to the group. “At least, that would have given an impression that our government is ready to give whatever it takes to fight insecurity, but no that isn’t the case.”
