Ahiara Diocese loses Priest

The death has been announced of Very Rev. Fr. Christian Paul Egege, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara, who slept in the Lord on July 5, 2025, at the age of 81. This passing of the priest was made known in a release signed by Most Rev. Simeon Okezuo Nwobi, Bishop of Ahiara, Diocese as funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course. All have been asked to continue to remember Fr. Egege, the diocese and his family in prayers and Masses. The release read thus: “To all priests, Religious and lay faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara Obituary announcement.

With firm faith in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara announces the demise of Very Rev. Fr. Christian Paul Egege, whose death occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Fr. Egege who died at the age of 81 was ordained a priest on April 8, 1972. His life was a testament to his total commitment to the priestly ministry. His dedication as a priest was evident in many parishes of then Owerri Diocese and as well as in Ahiara Diocese, where he worked.

Fr. Egege will be remembered with love and gratitude for his unwavering faith, tireless service, compassionate heart and willingness to offer guidance and encouragement with genuine care to people. Until his death, Fr. Egege was resident at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, Ogbe, Ahiara, Ahiazu, Mbaise. Funeral arrangements will be communicated later. Kindly remember him in your daily prayers. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.” The bishop prayed.
