The tenure of the executive council of the Agege Deanery Laity, Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos has since expired and in its place a new one was reconstituted to pilot the affairs of the Council for the next four years. In a keenly contested election which took place recently at St. Kizito Catholic Church, Iju, Lagos, Mr. Ezeifedi Ugonna, the immediate past chairman of the Laity Council, St. Cyprian Catholic Church, Oko-Oba, Agege, emerged as President. Also elected are Mr. Hyacinth Anosike, Vice President and Mrs. Tobili Rita as Secretary of the Council. In his remarks, the Dean of Agege Deanery, Very Rev. Fr. Sebastian Ngene who also doubles as the Parish priest of St. kizito Catholic Church, expressed his satisfaction the transparent manner the election was conducted and prayed that the new executive council should not relent in the work of evangelization and winning of souls for Christ and His kingdom, which he noted is the primary objective of the council. He said they have been sent out to be the ‘salt of the earth, light of the world,’ just as the slogan of the council expressly states. The election was witnessed by the council members and societies drawn from the nine parishes that make up the Agege Deanery Laity Council
