Preparations for the 3rd edition of the Africa Youth Cup are gaining momentum as the Co-President of the tournament, Mr. Godson Abba Ekadi, is scheduled to embark on an official visit to Sierra Leone in the second week of November, 2025. During the visit, Ekadi will meet with key stakeholders including the Minister of Sports, the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), and members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to fine-tune arrangements for the highly anticipated 2026 Africa Youth Cup.

According to the organizers, the visit marks a significant milestone in the buildup to the continent’s flagship youth football competition, which aims to discover and promote young African football talents while fostering unity, friendship, and cultural exchange. Discussions will focus on venue readiness, logistics, accommodation, security, and partnership opportunities, ensuring that Sierra Leone delivers a world-class event that reflects Africa’s growing influence in global sports. Speaking ahead of the trip, Co-President Mr. Godson Abba Ekadi expressed confidence in Sierra Leone’s readiness and commitment to hosting the tournament.

“We are delighted to partner with Sierra Leone for this historic edition of the Africa Youth Cup. Our visit will help strengthen collaboration with government authorities and local stakeholders to ensure a world-class tournament that celebrates Africa’s youth,” said Mr. Ekadi. The Africa Youth Cup, first launched in 2019 in Cape Verde, continues to serve as a premier platform for identifying the next generation of African football stars, while promoting peace, education, and cross-cultural understanding through sport.
