The Lagos Archdiocesan Catho-
lic Men Organization has
launched a N2 million appeal
fund in support of their members who
were part of the victims of the recent
pipeline explosion that rocked the
Abule Ado area of Lagos.
This was announced recently by the
President of the Organization, Barris-
ter Vincent Otiono following an on-
the-spot assessment of the affected ar-
eas and a condolence visit to the Dean,
Festac deanery Very Rev Fr Jerome
Akinyemi.
Describing the mode of their visit, he
explained,” We headed for St. Joseph
Abule Ado where we were received by
the chairman of the Parish Emmanuel
Umeh and the Deanery Coordinator
B.K. Osu. We proceeded on assess-
ment of the after effect of the incidence
of Sunday 15th March 2020.
Barrister Otiono who likened the sit-
uation they met on ground as depict-
ing the lyrics of Late Fela Anikulapo
Kuti, “sorrow, tears and blood,” said
the occasion beholds on all members
of the organization to rise and assist
their brothers from Festac Town.
Hear him, “This is the time that our
Brothers from Festac Deanery need to
feel the warmth and milk of our hu-
man kindness. It is in this spirit, after
meeting minds with the members of
my EXCO that I launch the Abule Ado
Explosion CMO Relief Support Fund
of two million naira N2m for over 40
brothers who were direct victims of
Sunday 15th March, 2020 explosion.
To set the tone for donations which
have since risen to an appreciable lev-
el, the President donated the sum of
N200,000.
He then challenged all members of
the organization to stand with 40 of
their colleagues who were directly af-
fected by the blast by donating their
token, reminding them of the words of
Matthew 25:40:
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you,
whatever you did for one of the least of
these brothers and sisters of mine, you
did for me.
