As the month of December approaches, children get excited. The reason for the excitement is not farfetched. It’s the upcoming Christmas season. Children are immensely fascinated with Christmas year in and year out. The happiness on their faces, when they see a Christmas tree or Santa Claus is incomparable. Most captivating for them are when their parents hold them spellbound with awesome new clothes, shoes and a number of alluring gifts. As we await another December 25, BETTY AMUKPO engages some children on what they love about this merry season.

‘Love, kindness, Care’

Christmas to me is a time to reflect on the personality of Christ Jesus trying to be more like Christ. Christmas is a time of showing love, care, kindness and understanding towards everybody around us, be it in any form that is Christlike. I pray that during this particular Christmas that we all will be more like Christ in all that we will do and Christ will grant and crown everyone of us with lots of forgiveness , mercy and grace. May god bless us all. Merry christmas!!!

What do you love about Christmas?? Christmas is a season when Christians celebrate the birth of the Infant Jesus. I love Christmas because of the beautiful change of weather, the decoration of our sorroudings with colourful ornaments, the Christmas songs we listen to almost everywhere. The new wears, the holiday vacation, visitations, gifts, goodwill messages and special dishes. I love Christmas because of the joy and good tidings that comes with it.

‘Baby Jesus, Fun’

Christmas is a joyous and happy season. It’s coined from the words CHRIST and MASS. Christmas is a moment just as the Catholic Doctrine tells us a time to commune together showing love and fairness about all. It reminds me to always remember the one on one relationship that I should have with God and my neighbours. What I love about Christmas is the fun, socialization, peace of mind and much more to remember the fact that my baby Jesus will be born in my heart for he said to me in his word “My child give me your heart.”

‘Christmas melodious songs, Christmas foods, decorations’

Christmas is the annual Christian festival, celebrating Christ’s birth, held on December 25th. It is the happiest time of the year. I love the Christmas songs, they are the best; the decorations and lights are pretty. I also love the special Christmas foods. New Year comes after, making it double celebrations. Truly, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year.

‘Christmas songs, merry season, decorations, gifts’

What I love at Christmas: It is the happiest time of the year. Christmas songs are melodious; the decorations seem to make things look prettier. I expect, give and receive gifts. Indeed, Christmas is a magical time of kindness, joy and coming.

‘Jesus was born into my heart again’

Christmas is also a time to redeem oneself. It is a time to look inwardly as a worthy Catholic, into our heart, mind and soul. It is a time to search for what is true and give oneself a moment of God. What I love most about Christmas is the social aspect and the fact that my Lord Jesus was born into my heart again and to commune with family members far and near. Jesus has said unto us “Come to me”.

‘Six things: Carols, decoration, sharing, family get-together, midnight Mass, home cooked delicacies’

• Christmas carols: they always put me in Christmas mood.

• Christmas decorations: everything is so colourful and jolly.

• Christmas spirit: the season is filled with the spirit of giving and receiving gifts.

• Keeping secret stash of sweets and food: you get to have a wonderful home cooked meal.

• Family get together and vacation: nothing honestly beats spending quality time with your you family and friends.

• Attending the midnight Christmas mass: this is the peak of the celebration.
