The Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), Lagos Archdiocese, joyfully received the National Youth Day (NYD) Cross and the Mother of Perpetual Help Icon on Sunday in a celebration marked by faith, colour, and youthful fervour. The sacred symbols, now on pilgrimage across Nigeria, are journeying through the nation’s 60 dioceses and nine Ecclesiastical Provinces in Nigeria, heralding the approach of National Youth Day 2026. Their visit to Lagos was more than ceremonial—it was a powerful spiritual encounter, rekindling devotion and renewing the missionary zeal of young Catholics across the Archdiocese.

The NYD Cross stands as a bold reminder of Christ’s sacrificial love, while the Mother of Perpetual Help Icon calls the faithful to trust, courage, and steadfast hope. Together, they symbolise unity, faith in action, and the vibrant future of the Church in Nigeria. As the pilgrimage continues towards its grand culmination to be hosted by the Jos Ecclesiastical Province in August 2026, Lagos has added its voice to a nationwide chorus of prayer and expectation. With hearts lifted high, CYON Lagos has once again demonstrated that the youth are not just the future of the Church—they are its living, dynamic present.
