Christians should show hospitality to those they know and to those they don’t. It’s a means of spreading the gospel. Showing hospitality to people is showing the love of Christ. The Bible commands everyone to show hospitality. BETTY AMUKPO puts forward hospitality practices of some children. Excerpts:
‘I’m accommodating to people or strangers l just met’
A hospitable person is friendly, generous, and welcoming to guests or people they have just met. Hospitality is a Christian virtue which God appreciates so much. It brought blessings to Abraham and to the Shunamite woman. Genesis 18 :1-15, 2 kings 4:8 – 37. If you are deficient in hospitality, then you are deficient of Christ, because the life of Christ is built on hospitality; Mathew 24 42 – 46. Based on these biblical verses, l can confidently say that l am very hospitable and accommodating to people or strangers l just met.

‘We should offer hospitality willingly with a joyful heart without grudges’
As a child of God, I help people in my little ways and also share with people that do not have. 1 Peter 4:9 states, “Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” We should also offer hospitality willingly and with a joyful heart, without complaints or grudges. It also involves a spirit of generosity and genuine care for others rather than a begrudging obligation. Romans12:13 states, “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained Angels unawares.” I will render hospitality to people 95/100 because putting smiles on peoples’ face makes God happy.

‘I strive to be hospitable like Abraham’
I strive to be very hospitable, just like Abraham in Genesis 18:1-15, who welcomed strangers with kindness and generosity. I aim to provide a warm and friendly interaction, like Jesus’ teachings in Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.”

‘I don’t neglect to show hospitality to others’
Hospitality is also known as entertaining and welcoming in visitors or guests, it is a genuine way to show love for others. I’m hospitable to others, for thereby, some have entertained angels unaware (Romans 12:13). I have known that if I grumble or complain while helping others, I have not truly shown biblical hospitality, though, I don’t neglect to show hospitality to others.

‘I welcome people with smiles and open arms’
The book of Hebrews 13:2 states, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” In line with this verse, I show kindness and generosity to those around me by making them feel comfortable whenever they are with me. I welcome people with smiles and open arms to make them feel secure. I do help my friends out of diffculties, and I do plead with my parents to let my friends follow us whenever we are having an outing.

Being hospitable is a way of reflecting God’s welcoming love and character. As a child of God, I’m very hospitable just as Jesus welcomed and mingled with both the righteous and the sinners (Matthew 9:10-17). Do you know that in being hospitable, there’s a likelihood of welcoming Angels? (Hebrews 13:2). As a child of God, hospitality is not just an act, but a reflection of His love and character. By embracing hospitality, we demonstrate God’s love and care to those around us (Romans 12:13).
