The Symposium of Episcopai Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) has sent a goodwill message to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) as Nigeria holds its general elections. In a letter signed by its President, Frigolin Cardinal Ambongo, Archbishop of Kinshasa and made available to The Catholic Herald Weekly, SECAM expressed concern and prayed for a free and fair election that produce credible leaders. The letter read in part, ” It is on behalf of SECAM that I send you this message of solidarity and goodwill as your country holds national and general elections in the months of February and March 2023. “Nigeria occupies a position of prominent ieadership and promise in the African Continent and has the prospects of even greater things in the future. “For these reasons. SECAM prays and hopes that the elections will be free and fair and produce leaders who will lead Nigeria with “justice and integrity. ” In recognition of the prophetic role which your Conference has played thus far in the history of Nigeria, we assure you of our solidarity and prayers. May Mary’: The Queen of Africa” intercede for your dear country at this great moment in history”.
